Investigations

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division (CID) processes all cases reported to the Sheriff’s Office. 

It is the mission of the Criminal Investigations Division to serve all people within our jurisdiction with respect, fairness, and compassion.  We are committed to enforcing all county, state, and federal laws in a fair and impartial manner.  We will always strive to improve the quality of life in our county through solving crimes, while maintaining respect for human dignity and the individual rights of each of our citizens.

 The detectives of the Criminal Investigations Division combat crime by conducting prompt and diligent investigations.  We strive to maximize the use of all available technological resources combined with traditional investigative methods to solve crimes, arrest suspects, their accomplices, as well as any fugitives within our jurisdiction.  Equally, we are committed to locating missing persons as well as the recovery of stolen property.

The Criminal Investigations Division is commanded by Captain Joey Jacobs, Lieutenant James Blankenship.  Captain Jacobs and Lieutenant Blankenship are responsible for planning, supervising, and reviewing the activities of all personnel assigned to the Criminal Investigation Division.

Captain Jacobs is responsible for performing supervisory, law enforcement, and administrative functions in the division and has full responsibility throughout the county involving: the management and assignment of personnel, equipment, and field emergencies, as well as administrative responsibilities.
